It's real -- the Playstation "Xperia Play" phone is finally here, or so says tech-blog Engadget who got their hands all over of the handsets. We''ve been talking about Sony's PlayStation Phone for a while, and finally, some hefty details surrounding the device have been released. Keep in mind that the phone is still a prototype and is subject to change, but at this point it's being called the Xperia Play and is running on Android Gingerbread.
With a 4-inch multitouch 854 x 480 LCD screen, 512MB of RAM, a single-core processor that clocks from 122.88MHz to 1GHz, a 5 megapixel camera, and a screen powered by the Bravia engine, the phone is shaping up to be one powerful piece of hardware. Not to mention the bottom slides out to reveal a fully functioning PlayStation-esque gamepad.

The device has only one pair of shoulder buttons at the top, but otherwise looks like a regular DualShock PlayStation controller without the joysticks. They've been replaced by two touchpads. The Xperia Play also has a preloaded app called PlayStation Pocket, which manages games that will allegedly be sold via a marketplace app specific to the device.
